Dev_Log 05:Zombies and the treeHouse


Another week has passed. This time in quarantaine! Our team however managed to adapt quickly to this situation.

Starting off with the first character we've made some proportion changes to the model. Some parts have been enlarged as we're working with a top down perspective. This might look strange from a normal POV but from above it'll make everything much clearer.


Here's a comparison to the version from last week. The one on the left is the newer version: Larger and the proportions are exaggerated and clearer.


 When both are scaled up you can clearly see that the one on the left works better in top down perspective:



Here is an example of our first Zombie, still a WIP. We're still working on the proportions and textures.


We also started making the UI for the game. This is an example of what the player health and inventory will look like. Every player will have a maximum of 4 spaces in their inventory to keep things simple and organised. 

The shop icons have also been added that can be purchased by the players in the game.

The upgrade tab has also been made a bit clearer.



We've also started working on the treehouse. So far it's still a huge WIP but it's getting there.




You've also probably noticed that we made some changes to the trees. We went over the trees again and decided a low poly style would fit our game much better. This will also result in better performance from our game. It's a win win.


The autoturret upgrade models have also been added. The placement for these is still undecided but for now they will sit in front of the treehouse.

We also started thinking a bit more about how the game will work exactly as far as treehouse placement goes.

Putting the treehouse in the middle of the map would result in a very confusing game, we're only working with 1 screen.


We decided to put the treehouse at the top of the map. Fences will be very handy now and can be used to slow zombies. This method requires 4x less fences to be placed.

We also looked into our projectiles and added a bubblegum effect that will slow zombies. Still a WIP of course!


We made the camera a lot smoother and added and you can now aim your gun with your second joystick while moving .


zombies wil now spawn in spawn areas and they wil walk towards the treehouse, but if you come too close they will charche at you. if they hit you you will be nocked back. you can also knock back enemies with your bat.


We also finished the health system we will wirk on adding a debuff system next.

Added the rubber band gun it will be one of the weakest and cheapest guns in the game but a good option for the early waves.


Also added the  baseball bat this will be the default weapon for the players.
