Dev_Log 03: zombies and art
hey hey,
Here is a giant art update.
This week we started off with a basic character after making a few design choices. We went with simple texturing on the clothes using colorswatches and started modelling a few weapons to add to the game. We're keeping everything basic, for now.
An example of what the characters will look like:
There is still some work left on it. The hair and the texturing is only temporary. Same goes for the color scheme chosen for the clothes. Everything will be more detailed and cleaner once done. We hope you like our first character!
To give our programmers a base to start from we started off modelling a baseball bat which will be the basic weapon in the game everyone gets at the start. From that point on you get to choose between a few guns. Each weapon has a different advantage over the other.
- We added a basic rubberband gun on the right that fires rubberbands this has a high rate of fire but deals less damage
- Next to that we have our cupcake launcher. The cupcakes fired will have an effect on the zombies. Either slowing them down or dealing a ton of damage or something else. We will decide this when balancing out the game.
- The final gun is a bubblegum shotgun. Of course everyone knows the advantage of shotguns: High damage, projectile spreading and sometimes a high rate of fire.
There is also a plunger visible in the back which will be fired by one of the weapons coming soon.
Here is a quick view of how the shop will look ingame. It's far from finished and will change soon but it's our general idea of how it will look.
This shop will sell all kinds of items such as weapons, food, and treehouse upgrades which we will introduce soon. Fences are sold aswel. Fences can be used to block zombies off, use them to your advantage to block their path in certain areas, making it easier to kill them. Nobody likes to be surrounded by the undead!
We just added the shotgun to the prototype. still thinking about how many projectiles an how fast to make them. als testing a upgraded shotgun with penetrating shot or shatter shots.
Fences will be used to block zombies. and maybe projectile based attacks. they will also block friendly projectiles so use them carefully.
Here's one of the 3 types of fences. The most basic and weakest one: The wooden fence. We will later on introduce the stone fence and the metal fence.
The Player can now dash a short distance witch they can use dodge zombies who also acquired a dash ability.
When Zombies Spot you They will be confused for a moment, but it won't take long before they realise they want to eat you so they will dash towards you. But while dashing they can't change direction so you can make the choice to dodge or to hit a well timed counter attack during their dash which will do a lot more damage and knock them down.
